2012 is the inaugural BlockTwo Merlot CabFranc blend by Paradise Rescued.
After recovery of the tiny 1/10th hectare section of 60 year old Merlot vines in 2010 / 11 from their near death experience, this was the first year of Merlot fruit production. Harvested by hand, destemmed by hand and crushed by hand, just a barrel and a half of merlot was produced in total.
Following a "small commercial" trial when some 2013 Cabernet Franc was added to a small part vat of the 2012 merlot, the tasting of this "accidental blend" immediately showed the potential for the merlot vineyard and the BlockTwo product.
Paradise Rescued BlockTwo 2012 is a 60% Merlot 40% Cabernet Franc Bordeaux blend.
"This is an exciting product to launch. Our first ever Merlot CabFranc blend based around the soft concentrated fruit of the old merlot block vines and beautifully led with the appealing fruit forward aroma of Cabernet Franc including its Paradise Rescued trade mark length in the mouth." David Stannard, Owner.
