Across the Bordeaux wine region, 2015 was a little variable but overall a very good vintage. But when a winery got it right, it was excellent. At Paradise Rescued it was good.
The first half of the season was very warm with very little rain falling until after flowering. July was a scorcher before rain began and then deluged to a record wet in August. September was calmer with steady breezes keeping the grapes dry and rot free prior to a mid September start to red grape harvesting.
Paradise Rescued BlockTwo 2016 is a 75% Merlot 25% Cabernet Franc Bordeaux blend.
ABV 13.0%
David's comment
"Paradise Rescued vintage 2015 is our great sleeper. Hidden away in bonded storage for far too long, it now has the chance to show its class. The 2015 BlockTwo is a very good wine on equal standing with the 2014 and medal winning 2016. The development of the new Merlot block progressed so well that we allowed a few new vines to produce a tiny quantity of fruit for the first time with the backbone still being the 60+ year olds."
